Which is the favorite Oikawa fly?

Oikawa is one of most popular fleshwater minnow in Japan. There is really small fish, actually it will growing up to 15 cm/6 inch.

A male Oikawa on nuptial color.

We can fish it year around and especially many anglers like fishing Oikawa at summer season because it will lovely nuptial color.
In winter season, Oikawa will go to deep zone in the river and it is difficult for fly fishing.

Well, when I fishing Oikawa, using several midge sized dry fly and nymph. There are #18 or 20.

My favorite flies are:

Oikawa dry (#20). No tail simple fly.

Pheasant tail nymph (#20).
Beads head midge larva (#18).
Midge maggot (#18).

If you have a plan go to Japan, don't forget several midge fly.
If already you are in Japan, why don't you fly fishing for Oikawa?!
You don't need go to wild nature, they are our neighbors and we can enjoy fishing in a city!

Of course we can guide fishing at Tokyo.
