Weekend trip to Karuizawa

Last weekend, my family and I went to snow playing at Karuizawa, Nagano pref., Japan.

My girl and I on skiing.
There is popular sightseeing area and also summer retreat. Actually there is more peoples in summer than winter.

They may enjoy shopping, eating, sporting and sometimes fishing (!).

We saw an icy river near old town of Karuizawa and it will open trout fishing season this weekend.

Yukawa river, Karuizawa, Japan.

To Karuizawa, it takes about 1 hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo station, or 3 hours by highway bus from Ikebukuro.

Caution "flying squirrel" or Batman!? ;)

If you are family traveling in Tokyo now and you would like to snow playing, I recommend go to Karuizawa. Because there is closer to Tokyo and ski slope is easy. Of course you can rent ski / snowboad stuff and wear.

Would you try to skiing, nature exploring or fishing at famous fashionable retreat area, Karuizawa?!
