May 1st.
I did fly fishing lesson and guide SN and it was the first fly fishing in his life.
Our original plan was Bass and Bluegill fishing in lake Kawaguchi.
At first we went to Lake Kawaguchi and I taught basic fly casting.
But it was very windy and difficult for casting :(
Shrub, grass, rock and wind, these are matter for fly casting. |
And so we went to Oshino of Katsuragawa river, there is near lake Kawaguchi actually it takes 30 minutes by car.
There wasn't matter for fishing and we found many many rise of trout. But as you know, "rise" is NOT always mean "catch" the fish.
At evening, SN caught a beautiful Iwana, Japanese char! and it's about 40 cm / 16 inch length.
I write again, this was his first fly fishing day!
Fish on! |
You did it! |
Beautiful Iwana / Japanese char (Salvelinus). |
Fished it on Elk hair caddis. |
And rainbow trout.
Simple and standard midge dry. |
It was beautiful day and he wouldn't forget his first fly fishing day.
It was also fantastic for me! ;)
Hey, why don't you fly fishing in Tokyo area? and Join us!
